Make sketches immersed in nature, in the beautiful Amathole forest.

During the retreat, you will hone your perceptual and drawing skills. Learn to use a variety of materials proficently. Learn to draw from life, improving accuracy, tonality, and mark-making.

At our retreat you will receive guidance in developing an art journal or idea book, for developing further ideas.

Our mindfulness drawing exercises restore inner calm and spark creativity.

Reconnect with yourself, through restorative practices like massage, gentle yoga and nature walks.

Develop three drawing-based finished artworks, using charcoal and multimedia.
The art sessions are run by Dr Anne Scheffer, who loves teaching and working with people. She has two decades of experience as art teacher.
Heike has completed Forrest Yoga Foundation Teacher Training in the UK. Hers is an empowering, energising and healing practice, designed to get the creative juices flowing!
Miki from Simple Sense Therapy has more than twenty years of experience as a qualified physiotherapist and is considered to be a village treasure.
Our retreat is set in Maylodge Country Cottages in Hogsback. Each artist is housed in one of 6 cottages, provided with a private room and bathroom, with communal, fully equipped kitchens.

Arrival and welcoming drinks Friday 8 May 2026.
Six full workshop days including drawing exercises, work on finished projects, mindfulness drawing.
